That’s it, summers over, (well, did we actually have one, apart from the last seven days of unseasonably scorching sunny September weather) we’re now heading straight into autumn and the loooong grey months. The final bank holiday before Christmas has come and gone, what hope do we have left! Well, actually, a surprising amount of creative gingerness, is what’s on offer. Not short of innovative autumnal goodness to keep us entertained as the nights draw in. Enjoy these five, curated, creative, vitamin D supplements to ease you into the darkness!
No.1 / David Shrigley – Artist
It’s a thumbs up (excuse the pun) for David Shrigley OBE. A British visual artist, who’s best known for his distinct childlike style line drawings, which often deal with witty, surreal and humorous subject matter. David is also known as a painter, sculptor, filmmaker and photographer.

No.2 / Numbscull – Font

I’m loving this grungy font, Numbskull, designed by Michael Wallner and published by The Type Fetish.
No.3 / Hania Rani – Musician

Hania Rani, a Polish pianist, composer and singer. Wow, what a talent! This is my current go to music to listen to when I need to be in the zone. Ethereal yet positive, melodic, eloquent and agile.
No.4 / Cayla Birk – Artist

I first came across Carla’s work which was on display in a front window of an art gallery in the city of London during the summer. I was immediately taken by the incredible vivid colours she uses and the graphic style of her work which was right up my street. Carla’s been working on a new project; Take the Lot, inspired by Lotería cards, a Mexican bingo-like game. The image above is just one of the artworks she has created as part of the theme. I was particularly taken by the vivid colours, the graphic simple brush strokes for the illustrations and the ingenious use of silicone to create the background texture.
No.5 / Pub in the Park – Food/Drink/Music, in a park

The biggest food and music festival tour in the UK! We’ve been to the St Albans Pub In The Park a few times now and it’s always been great fun. We had tickets for the Saturday afternoon event on an incredibly hot and sunny September’s day and managed to see live music from Deco and Sam Ryder. “The brainchild of Tom Kerridge, each festival celebrates everything there is to love about the glorious British pub; delicious food, award-winning chefs, epic live music, delicious drinks but above all else a fantastic time with friends and family.” What’s not to love! Cheers.
