Hạ Long Bay, located in northeastern Vietnam, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic natural landscapes in Southeast Asia. It is known for its stunning and unique natural beauty.
A short video of some of the area we got to explore on our trip.
We were there in the summer and managed to book a cruise for a two day trip on the boat, Orchid Cruise Trendy. What an incredible experience.
The area is renowned for its towering limestone karsts and islets that rise dramatically from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. These rugged, often jungle-covered formations create a surreal seascape that seems straight out of a fantasy novel. Some of these karsts are hollow, with breathtaking caves and grottoes waiting to be explored.
Just some of the dramatic images we got to see whilst sailing around the bay.
The bay’s waters are a mesmerizing shade of emerald green, which contrast beautifully with the gray and green of the karsts. This creates a striking visual spectacle that changes throughout the day as the light shifts.
In addition to photography, Hạ Long Bay offers a range of activities for visitors. You can take boat tours to explore the bay, visit the caves, go kayaking, or even try your hand at squid fishing with the locals.
Sailing in Hạ Long Bay not only provide a means of transportation for tourists but also serve as a vital part of the area’s culture and economy. The combination of these boats with the natural beauty of the bay creates a unique and unforgettable experience for those who visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site in Vietnam.
Some incredible scenic reflections through the windows on the boat.
