Bam, Boom, Bang 2024!
This is a throwback to a post I wrote three years ago. I thought it would be worth sharing for anyone who’d enjoy reading it again, those who missed it the first time, and newcomers alike. Enjoy!
No, it’s not an early 1960’s Batman and Robin TV series spin-off. It’s the dynamic trio of another rather splendid batch of home-brew created in readiness for 5th November and Bonfire night!
For those who don’t know me, I enjoy brewing my own beer at home. It’s the perfect excuse to get creative every time a new batch is born. I get to give it a unique name and design a custom label that reflects the name, the season it was made, and the flavor I had in mind.
For this brew, I aimed to create a comforting, autumnal beer—dark, heavy, and perfect for slow sipping. It’s a celebration of winter’s approach, as the nights grow longer, colder, and cozier!

I decided on a rich, dark chocolate-infused stout—a hearty brew perfect for the season. With the beer itself sorted, all that was left was to come up with a name and design the label.
With 5th November fast approaching, there could only be one theme appropriate to use – Bonfire night.
Taking influence from a previous creation where I’d designed a rocket-inspired label, I thought I could utilise some of the colourful tissue paper left over as part of this year’s overall theme.
Rather than sticking to a single design, I decided to create a trio of beer labels with the catchy names Bam, Boom, and Bang—classic firework-inspired words. For each label, I designed a unique logo with a playful nod to the iconic speech bubbles from the 1960s Batman and Robin.
To complement the labels, I chose the most vibrant tissue paper I had to wrap each beer bottle. I created a larger label to wrap around the folds and secure the paper, keeping everything in place.
It was really coming together! For the final touch, I wanted each bottle to resemble a colorful firework you’d find in stores. To create the illusion of a fuse, I doubled up some string, tied it around the neck of the bottle, and added a strip of gaffer tape at the bottom of the string.
And there it is—my firework-inspired beer bottle label for 2020! Now, all that’s left is to “light the fuse,” stand back, and enjoy this explosive brew!

Here is the artwork for the three beer bottle labels: Bam, Boom, and Bang.

Happy 5th November!
Please drink responsibly, and exercise extreme caution around real fireworks. They may look exciting, but they can also be incredibly dangerous.
