From elegant to explicit, wrap it up with attitude. The most sweary wrapping paper ever.

A short review (in shorts) of some rather lovely naughty wrapping paper.

A few weeks ago, I visited one of my favourite creative shops in London, Marby & Elm. It’s a place I make a pilgrimage to about once a year, and every visit feels like stepping into a treasure trove of unique stationery and artistic delights.

This time, it was a freezing winter’s day with a bright blue sky. After walking for what felt like ages, I was relieved to step inside, feel the warmth, and soak in the charm of the shop.

For anyone obsessed with stationery, Marby & Elm is like a candy store for the soul—except the candy is gorgeous paper goods and quirky designs. I didn’t have a particular purchase in mind, just a desire to browse and see what was new since my last visit. And then, something utterly unexpected caught my eye: elegant, copperplate-style handwritten wrapping paper.

At first glance, it looked like a sophisticated calligraphy exercise—smooth, flowing script that Charles Dickens himself might have admired. But as I leaned closer and began to read, I couldn’t help but laugh. The beautiful handwriting spelt out… swear words!

Yes, this wasn’t your ordinary wrapping paper. Each meticulously written word was delightfully naughty: F**k, T**s, B******s,D**k, S**t,W****r… and a few more colourful ones that might make even the boldest among us blush.

Naturally, I had to know more. I ended up chatting with Eleanor Tattersfield, the founder of the shop. She shared the story behind the paper, and I couldn’t resist buying a sheet. It’s almost too good to use as wrapping paper. In fact, I’m seriously considering framing it instead—it’s a conversation piece waiting to happen!

That said, I’ll definitely need to double-check what wrapping paper I grab for a kid’s birthday gift. The last thing I want is an awkward explanation session with bewildered parents.

Every visit to Marby & Elm leaves me excited for the next one, and this time was no different. I can’t wait to see what quirky treasures Eleanor dreams up next!

If you’re looking for wrapping paper that’s guaranteed to make people laugh (or gasp), this sweary masterpiece might just be your next must-have.
