Crossed Wires

Second label in the series, and this time the inspiration came from looking up.

On holiday in Hua Hin, Thailand, I kept stopping to photograph the street poles. Hundreds of cables, coiled, taped, looped and knotted around a single concrete post, with junction boxes hanging off them like afterthoughts. It shouldn’t work, but it does. The lights stay on, the internet keeps running, and nobody seems to know which wire goes where.

That felt like the right story for this batch, an imperial stout that’s bold on flavour, a tad bitter and a bit unpredictable. Pour a couple and the conversation goes off in all sorts of directions, then somehow comes back round. Hence the slogan: Everything’s connected. Somehow.

For the label, I took one of my own photos, pushed it into hard black and white, and set the name in a stencil font that nods to the lettering on the junction boxes. Red stool’s red runs through it, so the two bottles sit together as a pair.

Then I gave it a pulse. A red signal runs along one cable, through the pole, out the other side and back again, lighting up an insulator on the way and shorting out the type as it passes.

Cheers to tangled wires, small breakthroughs and whatever’s brewing next.
