Five things that got me gingered up this April ’21

With optimism abound, below are this month's curated selection of Gingerness personified.

More self-isolated buildings

Another fab example of a gorgeous building in the series of self-isolated buildings.Making these beautiful structures stand out from the all too often bland architecture that surrounds them. I like how the isolation of a building can really make it stand out, putting the spotlight on these charismatic structures that would have otherwise been lost… Continue reading More self-isolated buildings

Vaccine beer

In celebration of the fact that I recently received my first Covid-19 vaccine I thought it only appropriate I toast this monumental of occasions with a timely home-brew!

Isolated architecture

The Bat & Ball. Chequer Street, St Albans. I've taken creative inspiration from @ken_ohyama and trying out his cutout/isolation techniques of Japanese buildings on local buildings close to me. I'm loving how the isolation of certain buildings really puts the spotlight on these charismatic structures that would have otherwise been lost and merged into the… Continue reading Isolated architecture

Five things that got me gingered up this February 2021

It's the shortest month of the year, not that I'm counting the months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds... If I had a fast forward button, I would press it and not let go until safely past the very annoying Covid-19 commercial break. Unfortunately that button's been disabled and every single one of us needs to… Continue reading Five things that got me gingered up this February 2021

Lockdown lunchtime doodles No.002

So carrying on with the theme of Lockdown lunchtime doodles, this is my second attempt.

Capturing the Karate Kid’s movement

Some camera creativity going on in the household over the past couple of weeks! I wanted to experiment with slow shutter speed combined with flash to really help capture the hidden movement in a subject. I roped in my son as my muse. He managed to be a good model for about the first five… Continue reading Capturing the Karate Kid’s movement

Lunchtime lockdown doodles

I'm getting back into a bit of sketching and doodling these days. I find it relaxing, therapeutic, creative and especially helpful in lockdown when the weather's bloody miserable out there! I'm enjoying drawing freehand isometric shapes at the moment. Here's one I drew earlier today in my lunch-hour. More doodlings to follow. https://videopress.com/v/ERhqq6lY?preloadContent=metadata A time-lapse… Continue reading Lunchtime lockdown doodles

Five things that got me gingered up this January 2021

So here we find ourselves yet again, early January 2021 and back in lockdown 3.0! Blimey, just two weeks into the new year and we’ve had Brexit (whatever that was), a near civil war in the US and infections and deaths in the UK, due to Covid-19 are going through the roof! Thinking positively, nothing lasts forever, not even global pandemics. We have a vaccine being rolled out, we’re heading into Spring (although it doesn’t look or feel like that at the moment, just look out the window), it will get lighter by about two minutes every day and it’ll get warmer… …at some point.
